Property Description

- Sumptuous And Powerful 18Th Century Chateau - Touraine - Magnificent Architecture By Mansart De Jouy - 6 Meters Under Ceiling - Listed as a Historic Monument - 47 Hectares - 15Th Century Keep - Numerous Horticultural Facilities, 2000m² Of Greenhouses - To Be Restored And Redecorated - Loches - Indre-Et-Loire - Loire Valley. Built by the architect Jean-Baptiste Mansart de Jouy, grandson of Jules Hardouin-Mansart, for the Marquis de Verneuil from 1743 to 1756 This sumptuous and powerful château boasts grandiose architecture dominated by a large imperial dome reminiscent of the later dome of the Ãcole Militaire (by Ange-Jacques Gabriel) or the Palais de Justice in Paris (by Jacques-Denis Antoine). This stately architecture, built when the property was elevated to a marquisate in 1746, stands alongside the powerful 15th-century medieval keep. Converted into a community between 1924 and 2015, it has lost much of its interior decoration (with the exception of a few rooms and fireplaces) and requires complete restoration. Facing a 250-meter drive, the château overlooks its 47-hectare park in a dominant south-facing position with unobstructed views of clearings, large flowerbeds, and a canal. The interior features palatial architecture. The grand state room, with its 6-meter ceiling, retains its rich stucco and woodwork decorations, pilasters with Corinthian capitals, clasped arches, mercury mirrors, interior shutters adorned with mercury mirrors, and a monumental Louis Xvi fireplace with a coat of arms fireback. Five large double doors lead to 10 other rooms on the ground floor, two of which retain their marble fireplaces and coat of arms firebacks. A hall adorned with busts of Apollo and Diana, and door overlays themed around the seasons. A monumental staircase with a straight banister and a stone baluster adorned with interlacing, and the walls and ceilings are stuccoed with moldings. On the first floor, there are seven bedrooms, some with beautiful marble fireplaces in different colors. Two shared bathrooms, and a large living room/kitchen. On the second floor, there are 9 bedrooms, a living room, and two shared bathrooms. The first and second floors have completely lost their decorative elements except for the marble fireplaces. A freight elevator operates on 4 levels. Large vaulted cellars, 14 rooms, a professional kitchen, and a cold room. The 15th-century keep, the only surviving medieval feature, also overlooks the park on the side of the castle. Its architecture was restored at the end of the 19th century in the neo-Gothic style. Inside, on the ground floor, there is a large living room/kitchen, 4 bedrooms, and two beautiful fireplaces. On the first floor, there are 6 bedrooms, a beautiful fireplace, and two shared bathrooms. On the second floor, there are 6 bedrooms. A large attic with a beautiful 15th-century fireplace. A common wing, 8 large rooms on the ground floor, including a gymnasium, a shared bathroom, a boiler room, and two rooms. Upstairs, there are 3 rooms. A barn. 47 hectares in a single block, including 18 hectares under agricultural lease. Approximately 22 hectares of forest.
